Dries started working as a cocktail bartender in 2010 and worked in Absinthbar (Antwerp), L’Apereau (Blankenberge), Josephine's (Antwerp) and The Dirty Rabbit (Antwerp). Dries' passion for bartending has been supported by education (WSET Wine & Spirit Education Trust) and rewarded with the Venuez Best Bartender award in 2015. In 2016 he was winner of the Belgian World Class and he reached the 4th place in the overall World Class 2016 finals in Miami.
Dries wants to provide people an “unforgettable experience” not only with a good drink but also with the hospitality around it. That has also been the reason why he chose to work at BelRoy’s Bijou. “The whole picture is just complete here, we have a passionate team and everybody wants to share that passion with our guests and we never stop looking for ways to question ourselves so we can improve. It’s that shared passion that didn’t only make us a great team but also a group of friends” In BelRoy’s Bijou you can see the result of this in the drinks, the interior and the people behind the bar and serving. “We will always bring out the chameleon in ourselves to provide every woman and man, according their expectation, a perfect evening.” Dries has not favourite cocktail. “My favourite is the cocktail in front of me as it all depends on the moment, the people and the place you enjoy it.” Dries wants to keep on learning and growing and would like to become a brewer and/or distiller.
